First Euphix test release for restricted use

On February 1, 2006, the first EUPHIX test release was launched. The project partners were given access to it just before the 2nd Full project Meeting of February 2-3 in Amsterdam (see summary report). The lay-out of this release is similar to the Work-in-Progress site.

The site has a dual approach, either via concise ‘topics’ or to broader ‘themes’.

‘Topics’ are organized by a conceptual ‘topic tree’ roughly covering the indicators of the ECHI shortlist. Topics present basic data on the indicators, with tables, graphs, maps and explanatory text. ‘Themes’ provide an insight into broader public health issues of current policy relevance and go more in-depth than the topics.

The current test release includes draft documents for six topics (indicators): Lung cancer, COPD, Diabetes, Tobacco smoking, Overweight, and EU tobacco policies; and for two ‘themes’: Smoking and public health in the EU, and Obesity in the EU. Operational functionalities include: internal links to related documents; relevant external links; pop-up screens for definitions, abbreviations and references; interactive and explanatory maps

The test release was discussed extensively during the Amsterdam meeting. For more details, see the summary report of this meeting.
