The EUPHIX work plan mentions ‘integration of EUPHIX in the EU Health Portal’. In this context, EUPHIX/RIVM team members sat together with the management of the Portal at DG SANCO in Luxemburg, in February and March 2006. They discussed the complementary features of EUPHIX and the EU Health Portal. While EUPHIX will provide aggregated data plus interpretative and integrating text on selected topics and themes, the EU Health Portal gives a structured inventory of links to relevant websites and documents within the EU, as well as of other international organisations and Member States.

There was general agreement on the logical complementation, namely that EUPHIX would provide structured and authorised information for Portal topics by linking them with the EUPHIX ‘themes’. Moreover, EUPHIX can contribute the information on ECHI indicators, by linking the Portal to EUPHIX ‘topics’.

For both, EUPHIX and the Portal, the sustainability in the longer term is a serious issue for consideration. Both could be seen in connection to each other. The EU Health portal has been officially launched at the EU e-health conference in Malaga, May 10-12, 2006.
